Artist Statement

I have been interested in painting since childhood. Upon retirement from full time employment with more than four decades of practice in hydraulic engineering and teaching, I revived my interest in painting which has become an important part of my life. I began in 2005 with classes at the Yellow Barn Studio in Glen Echo, Maryland. I also participated in several painting workshops organized by Walt Bartman and others. In painting, I use warm and intense colors to produce dynamic and vibrant paintings. In my view, Colors attract the attention and create communication channels with the observer. The paintings are made at different locations in the United States and overseas. My goal is to continue to paint landscapes, seascapes, and abstracts using different media.

I am a Friend of the Yellow Barn and a member of The Senior Artists Alliance and have exhibited paintings in several local juried and non-juried exhibits. My first solo art exhibit was held in August 2007 at the Yellow Barn Studio Gallery. In addition to paintings I continue to provide consulting engineering services nationally and internationally.
