Recent Work by Gavin Glakas
Gavin Glakas is a 29 year-old artist who grew up in Bethesda, Maryland, and started drawing about the time he started walking. He studied painting at Washington University in St. Louis and the Slade School of Fine
Art in London, and got a job drawing cartoons for tourist T-shirts in Athens, Greece after graduating. Glakas worked on Capitol Hill for a year and a half as a Senate staffer after returning to America, but in 2000, after a major league health scare, he finally figured out what he was doing and began pursuing a
career in art.
Glakas began studying intensively and exhibiting his work at Discovery Galleries in Bethesda, Maryland. His work has been seen in galleries throughout the country and he teaches portrait and figure drawing and painting at the Yellow Barn in Glen Echo, Maryland. Glakas currently lives and works in Washington, DC. He can be reached at (202) 295-9055 or
