Bill Matuszeski, a resident of Washington, DC, has honed his observational skills taking photographs and doing travel drawings all his adult life, but he only began painting when he had time after his retirement from directing the Chesapeake Bay Program for the Environmental Protection Agency. His paintings have been accepted into juried exhibits at the Yellow Barn Gallery in Glen Echo, Maryland, Art on the Mountain in Southern Vermont, and at the Capitol Hill Art League Gallery (where he has received an honorable mention). He and his wife and fellow painter Mary Procter have mounted duo shows at the Yellow Barn Gallery, at the H Street Theater and RESULTS Gym Gallery in Washington, DC. Earlier he collaborated with his wife on a book of photographs of smaller industrial cities of the Northeast, called Gritty Cities. He has also attained the Instructor level in the Japanese flower arranging art of Ikebana Ikenobo. Bill Matuszeski studies plein air painting with Walt Bartman at the Yellow Barn Gallery in Glen Echo, Maryland and has painted landscapes in Vermont, California, the Washington, DC area, and on the Greek Islands, as well as in many European locations.
