Born in 1972, W. Michael Bartman III grew up in Frederick County Maryland. In 1994, W. Michael graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors of Science in Art Education. After college W. Michael returned to the metro area to work with Montgomery County Public Schools for 12 years. In his tenure with MCPS he has been recognized as "Outstanding New Teacher Of the Year", repeatedly "Who's Who Among American Teachers" and has been nominated for "Disney's American Teacher Awards". W. Michael also has been selected to be part of MCPS's exemplary teachers program. Recently, he was the director of the largest advanced placement art program in Montgomery County at Walter Johnson High School. W. Michael is now employed by the Landon School in Bethesda, Maryland. He is a member of its art department and the director of the Landow Family Art Gallery. Working a full day, W. Michael still finds time to paint and draw...

W. Michael's childhood has been full of artistic support, art materials were always accessible having an art teacher as a father. Painting all the time has been the norm for the Bartman’s. W. Michael has been part of many exhibits and has work in many private collections locally as well as internationally. The Montgomery Hospice selected W. Michael as their featured artist in 1999. The Washington Capitals professional hockey team selected him to be their featured artist for 2003 and 2004. W. Michael has also had work selected into juried exhibitions like "The Best of Maryland's Landscapes" sponsored by the First Lady of Maryland and the Regional Exhibit by the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center. W. Michael recently was the featured artist of the Paint to Cure sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Affiliated Graphics selected the Bartmans in 2000 as their featured artists of their company calendar. Both Bartmans were also featured in the Frederick Magazine, focusing on their lives and their art. W. Michael does exhibit work exclusively through the Yellow Barn Gallery.
