Artist's Statement
I have been a practicing artist and craftsperson for as long as I can remember. I started as a child obsessively drawing trees and, as evidenced in my artwork, I am still in awe of them. Fine craftwork fascinates me, in particular silver jewelry, stained glass, cloisonné enameling and most recently, jeweled vessels. Sixteen years ago I began to work in watercolor and gouache and, with the opportunity to travel both here and abroad, I carry my easel everywhere. I have begun showing my work in the last few years at the Yellow Barn Studio and now at the Unitarian Church.
My background includes a BFA from NYU in Film and Television and an MA in Art Education from NYU. I’ve studied with a number of different artists through the years, always gleaning new ideas and techniques that enhance my work. Art has been my passion, but I’ve also been a business partner with my husband in the Communications Industry for over 22 years. At the same time, pursuing my love for the cinema, I wrote film reviews for a monthly newsletter and Washington Woman. Somehow with these somewhat diverse pursuits, I’ve been able to keep my right and left brain working in tandem. And somehow, they’ve all served my art well.
